Surrounded by his family, José passed away peacefully in his home in West Bloomfield, after a courageous battle against cancer, on February 4th, 2017.
 

José was born on February 29, 1952 in Lima, Peru, to the late José Pareja Gonzales and Rosa Marina Tello de Pareja. He attended the Inmaculada school in Lima. He studied mechanical and industrial engineering at the Federico Villarreal National University of Lima, before continuing on to post-graduate studies at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta. José moved to Toronto, Canada where he completed an M.B.A. at York University and began his engineering career. José resided in Toronto for 17 years where he had his two daughters before moving to Michigan.
 

He had a love for cars and the American car industry. This great passion showed through in his dedication to both Chrysler, where he worked as an engineer for 20 years, and Ford Motor Company for over 5 years, where he was in the Ford Hispanic Network. A dedicated, honest, hard-working professional; he has been recognized over the years for his achievements through numerous awards. He enjoyed Indy car racing and held an Austin Healy Club membership.
 

An adventurer at heart, Jose loved the water. This love included surfing, fishing and spending time on his boat the "Pisco Sour" where he enjoyed hosting and serving pisco sours. 'Mi casa es tu casa' (my house is your house) was one of the mottos he lived by; he will be remembered for his kindness, charisma and welcoming nature.

 Dr. Michael D. Shinnick, 71, passed away, on October 21, 2016, at his  home in Blacksburg. He was born in Lowell, Mass., on August 26, 1945, to  parents, William James Shinnick and Clara Williams. Michael grew up in  Florida and was an avid sailor, scuba diver, adventurer, and collector  of antique cars, who had a zest for life, and a sparkle in his eye. He  received one Masters Degree in Rehabilitative Counseling and Psychology  and another Masters Degree and Ph.D. in Rehabilitation and Special  Education Services. All degrees were received from Auburn University,  where he also served as an associate professor. He was also founder and  director of Dynamics Research Group, which provided expert services in  applied ergonomics, work injury and disability management, since 1981.  He was also one of the (13) Founders of the International Modapts  Association that has become a worldwide system that trains and evaluates  the day to day operations in all operating environments through the  language of the Predetermined Time System of  Modapts.  Michael was one  of the driving forces that  made Modapts accepted worldwide today  through its inherent ergonomic factors and as a valid and useful work  measurement tool.                 

He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Shinnick, and his nephews, Ronald  Shinnick Jr., Michael Sirven, Chano Sirven Jr., along with their  families and his loving dog, Asher.  In his memory, donations may be  made to the Alzheimer's Association.
